Madam Nisa constantly reminds us students to read. I'm not sure if its due to her being our lecturer for Academic Reading or just a general reminder. She always give us advises that we should strive for the best when studying. She can be scary at times, but most of the times, she's very understanding and have chill vibes surrounding her.
About the course
When I first heard about this course, I was suprised. I mean at this point, who don't know how to read? However academic reading is not just about reading, it is about understanding what you are reading.
In this course I learned about dictionary skills, root words, contextual clues, discourse markers, reference and signal words, skimming and scanning, identifying stated main ideas, implied main ideas and supporting details.
My major assignment in this course is my two reflective journal and reading presentation.
